Two drob recipes: one with meat and one vegetarian

The original drob recipe can be reinterpreted in many ways, depending on the food preferences of each, but also the medical restrictions that some people have. In the following we propose a classic and a vegetable drob.

The feast of Easter means for many people the observance of traditions, including culinary ones. Lamb is used in various Easter dishes, such as sour lamb soup or lamb steak. One of the dishes that often finds its place on the Easter table is drobul. Although there are people who make it from chicken, in general, the liver is made from lamb mixed with eggs and spring greens, writes doc.ro.

People who want to respect the Easter traditions, but who, for various reasons, do not eat meat, can prepare vegetarian or even vegan cheeses, which, however, do not compromise in terms of taste and texture. The basis for these vegetables is either mushrooms, soy texture or lentils.

The tradition of this meat dish is present in many countries, with various names and methods of preparation: in the Czech Republic, for example, a dish similar to the drob is called 'sekaná', which in the center has boiled eggs, sausages or pickled cucumbers in Italy. , is called 'polpettone' and may also have eggs, ham or cheese in the center. It seems that the Scottish haggis bears the greatest resemblance to the Romanian drob, although it also contains onions and oats.

Because lamb liver is made from animal organs, especially from the liver, it can be difficult to digest and assimilate by some people with chronic conditions. In addition, other ingredients that are added, such as eggs, can be considered "heavier". Thus, today we present you two recipes: one of classic lamb liver and one of vegetarian liver. Depending on your preferences, you can replace certain ingredients or change the quantities.

Now that I have entered Lent, I have decided to post some of my fasting recipes.
One of these recipes, even a favorite of mine, is Drobul de post.
Full of tasty, filling and healthy vegetables, this dish is very easy to make.

Vegetarian drink with mushrooms

Here is a recipe for a vegetarian dish with mushrooms and vegetables, simple, tasty and healthy.

Necessary ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 250g mushroom mushrooms
  • 250g forest mushrooms or pleurotus
  • 2-3 medium boiled potatoes
  • 2 green onion bindings
  • 2 bundles of green garlic or leurda
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 2 parsley bindings
  • 2 dill bindings
  • 3 eggs (if you do not eat eggs, you can replace them with 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds, soaked in 6 tablespoons of water)
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon sweet paprika

How to prepare

Boil the potatoes in their skins, then peel them and grate them.

Wash the mushrooms well, drain them in a strainer, then cut them into small cubes.

In a non-stick pan, heat the oil and cook for 2-3 minutes the green onion and finely chopped garlic / leurda. Add the grated carrot and let it cook for another 2 minutes. Then put the finely chopped mushrooms in the pan. Turn the heat up and continue to cook until the juice from the mushrooms decreases (about 5-7 minutes).

Allow the hardened vegetables to cool, then add the boiled and grated potatoes, finely chopped parsley and dill, salt, spices and eggs (soaked flax seeds). Mix to incorporate all the ingredients well.

Put the composition in a cake or cake tray lined with baking paper.

Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake it for 40 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees (stage 4 in the gas oven).

Remove the pickle from the pan after it has cooled completely, place it on a plate and season it with a spring salad with onions and radishes.

Vegetarian drink with lentils and mushrooms

This year is the first year that my parents have decided not to eat Easter lamb. I was so happy with their decision that I thought of creating one Easter vegetarian menu, tastes and healthy. So, the idea came to me to make a vegetarian liver with lentils and mushrooms. It came out extraordinary !! I don't want to brag, but the vegetarian drob is very similar to the classic drob, both in texture and taste.

Appearance, texture, taste, I hit them all! The trick? You need to find the right proportion between lentils and mushrooms. If you add too much lentils, the liver will come out dry. Conversely, if you add too many mushrooms, it will have a too moist texture. The spice mix also helped define the taste.

Drobul is not crumbly at all! In the pictures it looks like this because steam was still coming out of it when I took it out of shape. Big mistake & hellip I was very hungry and I hurried. If you let it cool down a bit, it will come out of perfect shape, without breaking.

[update] I've redone the recipe a lot of times so far! Most of the time the vegetarian liver was chosen at the expense of the one with meat at the Easter meal. So you can! Choose a mild Easter, without pagan sacrifices!

The holidays are always an occasion for joy, no matter what they are. As for the Easter holidays, we are not big consumers of meat, but we are not vegetarians / vegans either. during this period. Especially me, who can't even sit at the table if there are too many dishes on it. Last year we enjoyed a mushroom stew, which was extremely appreciated and cooked by many housewives this year. Vegetarian drink with lentils

Ingredients for 1 pc. Vegetarian lentils with lentils:

  • 300 grams of lentils
  • 1 red bell pepper (I used kapia)
  • 1 small zucchini
  • 1 link green onion
  • 1 dill connection
  • 4-5 leurda threads (or 2 cloves garlic)
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 grams of cheese
  • 1 greased cube for greased tray
  • 1 teaspoon white flour for the tray

Preparation Vegetarian drob with lentils:

  1. Wash the lentils under a stream of cold water, then leave them to hydrate in plain water, enough to cover it, together with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (I left it overnight)
  2. Drain the lentils, rinse and drain again.
  3. Put the lentils to boil in salted water (being hydrated, it will boil very quickly, approx. 5 min)
  4. Drain the lentils and leave to cool.
  5. In a large bowl, pour the boiled and cooled lentils, add the washed and chopped greens, eggs, salt, pepper and the grated / mashed raw zucchini.
  6. Mix everything well (if you want, you can easily care for the composition, with the help of a vertical blender & # 8211eu I preferred to leave it like that, because I wanted the lentils to feel good)
  7. Line a cake pan with butter and sprinkle with flour (or use baking paper).
  8. Transfer the above composition to the prepared tray and place in the preheated oven.
  9. The vegetarian liver with lentils is baked over a moderate heat (180 degrees) until it thickens and browns nicely. (approx. 15 min in my case)
  10. Grate the cheese on top of the liver and put it back in the oven (while the fire goes out) for another 5 minutes, during which time the grated cheese will form a beautiful crust.
  11. The vegetarian liver with lentils is left to cool completely in the tray, after which it can be easily removed from the tray, sliced ​​and served immediately, along with fresh vegetables and greens.
  12. Keep cold for up to 3 days.

Extrasfat: if your tray is bigger, it would be good to think about increasing the quantities, I didn't get this height very high.

Method of preparation:

Thus, I prepared a chocolate cake (which gave me some emotions but it went well), an Easter cake, a spinach tart and because I knew that my grandmother would prepare the lamb, I made this cake vegetarian. About everything else in the coming days.


Peel a squash, grate it and chop it finely. In the end, I didn't even use a kilogram because I didn't like the way the tails looked, so I threw them away.
Onions, dill, parsley, cut them all into small pieces. Heat about a tablespoon of butter in a pan and cook the mushrooms plus half the amount of onion. When they look done, take them off the heat and mix them with the rest of the onions and greens, season to taste. Beat eight of the ten eggs as for the omelet and add them to the composition, mixing well, to mix everything.
Turn on the oven in time, at 200 degrees.
Pour into a cake pan lined with baking paper, and pour the other two beaten eggs on top, which will form a crust. Put in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes. Serve cold, on a plate, with fresh cheese, radishes, green onions and whatever your heart desires.
