These potatoes with sausages or smoked ribs, boiled eggs and cream are called, in Hungarian, boiled potatoes (rakott krumpli) or French potatoes (france krumpli). In Hungary and Transylvania they are a staple food that is cooked quite often, especially in the cold season. Not the other way around but they are very consistent.

Classic French potatoes are made without sausages but with boiled eggs and cheese (the recipe here).

Grandma had a Jena glass shape about 35 cm long and 15 cm high which was the special bowl for these au gratin potatoes. She made them with eggs, sausages and a lot of cream, just like I make them.

As a variation on the theme, I also mounted some "turrets" of potatoes that I baked separately. Let's say it's a more modern version.
