RECIPE PREPARATION Sweet mashed potatoes:

1. Peel the potatoes and onions, cut and boil for 20 minutes in 300 ml of vegetable soup.

Sweet potatoes and cinnamon cakes

sweet potatoes and cinnamon cakes is a traditional recipe of life, which, in fact, combines two classic ingredients: sweet potatoes on the one hand and cinnamon on the other. In fact, cinnamon gives this sweet a very wonderful flavor.

  • 1/2 kg. of sweet potatoes
  • 1 glass of flour
  • 1 glass of milk
  • 2 glasses of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon + ground cinnamon to sprinkle
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 o C.
  2. First cut the sweet potatoes with a knife, cut them into slices. Put water in a saucepan and cook the sweet potatoes in hot water until they are quite soft. Take them out of the water and let them rest. When they are cold, remove the skin.
  3. Now it's time to crush them. Put the sweet potatoes, flour, milk and sugar in the food processor. Grind everything well until all the ingredients are well integrated, including the teaspoon of cinnamon. If you do not have a food processor, you can crush or scale them with a fork, then mix all the ingredients little by little.
  4. Grease a round shape with butter and then pour the mixture of sweet potato puree.
  5. Bake at 180 o C for about an hour. However, depending on the oven, it may be ready faster. To check it, you just have to catch it, until the fork or wooden stick comes out clean.
  6. Once cooked, take it out of the oven and let it cool. Then keep it in the fridge, and when it is cold, carefully remove it.
  7. To finish, sprinkle the cinnamon flavor on top. Ready! Enjoy it

Duck breast with mashed sweet potatoes

Ingredient:

* 400 gr duck breast
* Juice from an orange
* One lgt of honey (+1 year)
* 1 lgt olive oil
* A pinch of salt and pepper 2 years +
* O lgt corn starch
* 1 lgt granulated onion

I mixed the orange juice, the spices, the olive oil and left the duck for about half an hour in the marinade.
I then transferred it to the Ninja Foodi basket, put a glass of water in the big pot and left it on High pressure for 5 minutes with a quick release.
I rolled the duck again through the remaining marinade and put it back in the basket this time on crisp air for 13-14 minutes, half the time I turned the duck and put a little more marinade on top.

For the puree I boiled two large diced sweet potatoes, after they boiled I made the puree in a blender with a little milk, butter and a teaspoon of goat cheese cream.

◊ In order to fully benefit from iron in meat, its combination with dairy products is avoided (especially in children with iron deficiency and anemia) and I only combine them occasionally. ”

Preparation of sweet potato salad with avocado and spinach:

Mashed sweet potatoes, 4-6 months

Sweet potato is one of the vegetables most often used to start diversifying the baby's diet. Although they are not very well known in our country, lately the supermarkets also offer sweet potatoes for sale.

What do sweet potatoes look like?


• Sweet potato peelings can be orange, yellow, red or white.
• They can have a thin and long shape, or they can be similar to normal potatoes.
• The flesh color is yellow or orange. Some sweet potatoes are very soft and moist after cooking, and others can be drier, flourier.

How to prepare puree?


• Wash the sweet potatoes well, peel them, then rinse again in cold water.
• Cut the pieces and boil them with enough water to cover them. Cover with a lid.
• When cooked, drain the water well and grind the potatoes with a fork or blender.
• Add a little milk (breast or formula) until you get the desired consistency.

Alternative


Instead of boiling the sweet potatoes, you can bake them in the shell, in the oven of the stove. When it softens (after about 20 minutes), take them out of the oven, let them cool, then peel them. Baked sweet potato puree is prepared in the same way as in the case of boiled ones.

Why give your baby sweet potatoes?


• Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B6, iron, manganese and fiber.
• Sweet potatoes are one of the healthiest vegetables.

Careful!


If you feed your baby too many sweet potatoes, you may be surprised that the baby's nose turns orange. This is due to beta-carotene (the source is vitamin A) which the baby's body does not process efficiently. Don't be alarmed. The color will disappear when you stop feeding on sweet potatoes or carrots.

Do not give your child sweet potatoes and carrots on the same day, for the same reason: too much beta-carotene!


Sweet potato puree recipe

If your baby is already 6 months old and you are in the early stages of diversification, you can think of sweet potato puree as a stand-alone meal. Warning: because it is very rich in carotene, it is recommended to avoid the combination with carrot, another important source of carotene, because excess food can change the color of the baby's skin.

When you choose sweet potatoes at the store, make sure they have a uniform color on the entire surface. There are many recipes with sweet potatoes, but the starting point is the same: wash the skin very well.

If you can, we recommend cooking sweet potatoes in the oven, as they retain their flavor better. For this you will prick the well-washed potato a few times and you will put it on a tray in the hot oven depending on its size, it can be completely cooked in 30-60 minutes.

When it becomes soft and easy to prick with a fork, remove from the oven, cut in half and allow to cool slightly.

There is also the option of steaming sweet potatoes: peel them, cut them into cubes and put them in a sieve over a pot of boiling water, with a lid.

Once it is prepared, put the potato in a bowl and pass it with a fork or blender until you get a sweet potato puree. It can be eaten as such, or butter, yogurt, grated cheese or other vegetables can be added.

Peel the onions. Boil 3 liters of water in a large pot, add the thighs, onions, bay leaf and a tablespoon of salt and simmer for about 80 minutes.

Remove the thighs and leave to cool. The remaining juice is passed through a sieve, the fat is removed and the juice is set aside.

For the puree, peel the sweet potatoes and potatoes, wash, cut into pieces and cook in the soup for about 20 minutes. Drain, add milk and chestnuts and crush.

Season the puree with salt, pepper and nutmeg and refrigerate.

Remove the outer leaves of the white cabbage, cut the cabbage into quarters, remove the spine, cut the cabbage into strips, wash and cook in salted water for about 8-10 minutes. Then rinse with very cold water and leave to cool.

Clean the potato, cut it into pieces, then wash it well and put it to boil in a pot in which you put enough water to cover it. Let it boil over medium heat until it penetrates well (you can test it with a fork).

Remove the potato with a spatula and keep the liquid in which it boiled. Put the pieces in the blender and pass until you get the desired consistency (and depending on the age of the child). You can also add from the juice in which it boiled (especially since many nutrients have remained in it since it was boiled) if the puree is too thick.
