How to Make It
Grate the cheese and cut the butter into small pieces. Place the cheese, butter, salt, and a few grinds black pepper in the food processor and pulse for a few seconds until the mixture comes together. Add the flours one at a time, processing until the mixture becomes crumbly. Pour in the cold water and process until a large dough ball forms. The dough should be soft and malleable.
If you’re making the spicy crackers, add the garlic and cayenne pepper to the dough, kneading it in with your hands until well incorporated. Split the dough into two balls, flatten into disks, and wrap each disk with plastic wrap. Let chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
When the dough is finished chilling, preheat the oven to 375º F. Roll out the dough until it’s thin but not paper-thin, about 1/8-inch thick. If they are cut too thick, the crackers will be less crispy and more bread-like. Cut the crackers using a cookie cutter of your choice, or use a knife to cut squares or triangles.
Place the cutouts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and repeat with the second disk of dough. If making the spicy crackers, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne over the crackers.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Keep in an airtight container for 2-3 days, although they are best when fresh. Re-crisp in the oven or toaster oven if desired.
Homemade Goldfish Crackers | 4 Ingredient Whole Grain Crackers
Make your own snacks-that-smile-back with this homemade goldfish crackers recipe! Yes, this is more work than buying pre-packaged Goldfish. But, they’re unbelievably tasty, perfectly cheesy, and made with simple, CLEAN ingredients. And, the recipe is as easy as making your dough, rolling it out, and cutting out shapes. Plus, you can even carve a smile into your homemade goldfish crackers with a toothpick so they look like the real deal!
Personally, Goldfish were one of my favorite childhood snacks. I still love them to this day! But, the only problem is I can’t put the bag down. And, don’t even bother telling me to put some in a little bowl and just eat the serving or practice “moderation.” There’s no point! Because, let’s be real—once you pop, the fun don’t stop!
Or, wait…wrong slogan. You get the idea.
Mindset or Moderation?
A while back, I read an article that really resonated with me, talking about French fries—my first love. It was making a comment on fast food, saying that French fries (and other fast food items) wouldn’t be nearly as bad for us if we made them on our own. Which, in my opinion, makes a whole lot of sense!
First of all, if I had to make my own French fries every time I wanted them, that’s a lot of work. Clearly, far less convenient than buying them at the drive-thru…so I wouldn’t eat them as often! Secondly, even though they’d still be fried, they wouldn’t contain all of the same processed crap and additives as fast food fries. Because, with anything homemade, I’m in control of the ingredients!
Homemade Goldfish Crackers with Built-In Moderation
Anyway, this is what inspired me to make my own homemade goldfish crackers. (And, some other tasty DIY processed snacks…) I decided, if I really want to enjoy processed crap, then why not make an experience of it? After putting in the work to make them, I appreciate and savor every bite—rather than mindlessly consume. And, the time it takes to make these homemade goldfish crackers is like my built-in moderation mechanism. Much more involved than just tearing open a box and chowing down!
Most importantly, by crafting this homemade goldfish crackers recipe, I’m able to clean up the ingredients significantly. No refined flour, no inflammatory vegetable oils, no tricky additives like ‘autolyzed yeast’ (a.k.a. MSG). Plus, they’re pretty darn fun to make. Win-win! Or, win-win-win!
Simple Ingredients are Key
If you look at a package of Goldfish, the ingredients list is much more complicated than I prefer. But, that’s definitely not the case with these homemade goldfish crackers! In fact, there are only FOUR simple ingredients (six if you could salt and water). And, they don’t require any butter, thanks to the coconut oil.
Personally, I like to use a sharper cheddar cheese in this recipe for more flavor. Or, you could really use any cheese you like! And, I’ve also lightened up the wheat/gluten load by using half oat flour. But, I wouldn’t suggest using only oat flour, because your homemade goldfish crackers won’t crisp up quite the same.
To Keep your Homemade Goldfish Crackers Gluten Free
Of course, if texture isn’t a huge concern for you, then go for it and try all oat flour! But, if you NEED these to be gluten free and still just as crave-ably crispy, there’s another option. Rather than using the oat flour, I suggest subbing ALL of the flour for an all-purpose gluten free flour. That way, you nix the wheat and gluten, but your homemade goldfish crackers will still have that satisfying crunch!
How do I make a cheese ball?
This is honestly one of the easiest appetizers ever. Just follow the simple steps below.
- Mix together ingredients. Mix all ingredients (except pecans) with an electric mixer until smooth.

How Do You Soften Cream Cheese
Ideally, soften cream cheese by setting it on the counter about 30 minutes before you need to use it.
To soften cream cheese in a hurry, place it on a microwave safe plate and microwave for 15 seconds or so. Yeah, I forget to take it out of the fridge beforehand sometimes, too!
How Do You Thicken Cream Cheese Dip
To thicken cream cheese dip you can add some more cream cheese or some yogurt.
What Can I Substitute for Seasoned Salt
Seasoned salt comes in a variety of flavors, and everyone has their favorite. A common combination is salt, pepper, paprika, garlic and onion powders. Some additional flavors can include red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper, turmeric, or even sugar.
To substitute, start with salt and pepper, then add your favorite seasonings from the list above until you reach your desired flavor.

That&rsquos it! Grab your favorite pretzels or this awesome 3-Ingredient Beer Bread and serve.
You can use an 8 ounce brick of cream cheese in place of the whipped cream cheese for this recipe. You will just need to get out your beaters to mix everything together.
Buying whipped cream cheese is a short-cut I like to use when making cold dips because I can simply place the ingredients in one bowl and stir everything together by hand.

7 Homemade Cracker Recipes That Take Snacking to the Next Level
The thought of making homemade crackers is similar to that of making hummus. Why spend hours in the kitchen when you can buy delicious, affordable varieties that come in countless flavors and suit nearly every dietary preference?
We already set the record straight when it comes to hummus, so now it&rsquos time to talk about crackers. First off, the idea that they take hours to make or require culinary expertise is simply incorrect. Another myth: Store-bought crackers taste better. These seven recipes are crazy tasty and can be made by anyone, whether a kitchen whiz or cooking novice. Let&rsquos get crackin&rsquo.
1. Easy Homemade Flatbread Crackers
This recipe uses 10 ingredients and only requires mixing together the dough, rolling it out, and topping it with, as the recipe creator calls them, &ldquodesired accessories.&rdquo Taking less than 30 minutes to make from start to finish, these are some of the easiest and most customizable crackers out there. We love experimenting with herbs and spices and occasionally topping them with cheese.
2. Multi Seed Crisps
Birds are onto something: A simple blend of seeds and water is actually an incredible snack. This recipe calls for 14 varieties of seeds, but you can also opt for what you have on hand and use larger quantities of a smaller selection (e.g., go heavy on the pepitas and skip the amaranth). The step we don&rsquot advise skipping: Adding a teaspoon of onion salt to the seed mixture. It adds just the right amount of flavor to the nutritious, omega-loaded snack.
3. Rosemary and Olive Oil Crackers
Don&rsquot be fooled by the hour-and-a-half cooking time, these crackers still fall into the super-easy category. In fact, most of the cook time is letting the crackers cool. To make, simply whip up the dough, divide into four sections, roll as thinly as humanly possible, bake for four minutes at 450 degrees, flip, and bake for a few more minutes. The thinner the dough, the crispier and more golden the cracker.
4. Homemade Fruit and Nut Crisps
Fruit and nut crackers mean extra nutritious crackers, right? When it comes to this recipe, yes. Many similar store-bought recipes boast high quantities of sugar, whereas these crispy delights use a relatively small amount. These crisps go great with soft cheeses, like Brie and goat, and taste delicious with maple syrup in place of the brown sugar.
5. Spicy Everything Bagel Cheddar Cheese Crackers
These crackers capture so many flavors that we love: spicy, everything bagel, cheddar cheese. They&rsquore so darn good, we&rsquove dubbed them the triple threat of crackers. Use a fluted square cookie cutter for a Cheez It-like shape and feel free to opt for store-bought everything bagel spice to cut back cook time a tad.
6. Parmesan Thyme Crackers
Sure, this recipe is a great gift, but we say treat yo&rsquoself and make an extra batch to enjoy at home. These seven-ingredient crackers are full of butter, cheese, and thyme, some of the greatest flavors for crispy, savory crackers. Make sure the butter is room temperature to ensure the crackers don&rsquot fluff and puff, and don&rsquot skimp on chill time, as the longer they cool, the more evenly they&rsquoll cook.
7. One-Bowl Gluten-Free Crackers
Gluten-free and vegan? Yes, it is possible to have diet-friendly crackers that still taste like a dream. We love the hearty taste of the almond meal and hint of savory from the fresh rosemary and sea salt. Make sure to use a neutral-tasting oil, like avocado, to ensure it doesn&rsquot overpower the rest of the ingredients. The best part: These crackers taste good with practically everything, so dip your heart out.
Easy Cheeseburger Casserole
- You’ll start off by cooking and draining the pasta according to the package directions.
- Next, brown the beef in a large skillet with a little garlic powder, salt and pepper. You could also throw in a diced onion if you’d like.
- Once the beef is brown, toss the pasta shells, tomato soup, a little water and half of the cheese in with the beef and mix it all up.
- Pour it into a large 9吉 greased baking dish.
- Top with the remaining cheese and then bake covered with foil in a 375 degree oven for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes to brown the cheese. I also like to turn the oven to broil for the last few minutes to make it a little toasty.
This easy casserole makes enough to serve 6-8 people, depending on the appetites. We usually have leftovers the next day, and it’s just as good reheated in the microwave!
I suppose you could also top it with a little sour cream, diced tomatoes, jalapeños, or anything else you’d like but it really doesn’t need it. It’s surprisingly packed full of flavor considering it only has a few ingredients.

It's not only delicous, it's also budget friendly, easy to make and a family favorite. It's made with just ground beef, pasta shells, tomato soup, cheese and seasoning to taste. Yum!
- 1 (1lb) box medium pasta shells
- 1lb ground beef
- 2 (10oz) cans tomato soup
- 2 cups shredded cheddar
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1/2 cup water
- garlilc, salt & pepper to taste
Cook and drain the pasta according to the package directions.
Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375 degrees and grease and 9x13 baking dish.
In a large skillet, brown and chop the ground beef with garlic powder, salt and pepper (or any seasoning of your choice).
Add the cooked pasta, tomato soup, a half cup of water and HALF of the cheese to your skillet with the browned beef stir and cook for 2-3 minutes over medium heat.
Pour the mixture into your greased dish and top with the remaining cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes (I also like to turn the broiler on for the last 2-3 minutes to brown the cheese).
Serve immediately and store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- You don't have to use mozzarella for this dish if you'd rather use 100% cheddar instead. Your preference! I like the mozzarella because it makes the cheese stringy.
- You can also add a diced onion or onion powder to the beef mixture. My family doesn't care much for onion, so I leave it out.
