Had some veg I wanted to use up instead of throwing away (I hate to waste food). So, came up with this recipe which I think may be able to be tweaked to personal taste.

West Midlands, England, UK

3 people made this

IngredientsServes: 6

  • 1 sachet chicken chasseur dry mix
  • 500ml cold water
  • 3 large white potatoes, cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • 500 to 600g boneless cubes of pork
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 eating apple, cored and thickly sliced
  • 2 medium parsnips, sliced in chunks
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, sliced in chunks
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon mustard, or to taste
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

MethodPrep:15min ›Cook:2hr ›Ready in:2hr15min

  1. Parboil the potatoes for 5 minutes, then drain and leave to cool. Slice each half into about 3 rounds.
  2. Pre-heat oven 160 C / Gas 2-3. Mix dry mix sachet with the cold water and blend well.
  3. Heat the oil in a wide casserole on medium heat; when hot, brown pork until coloured. Remove with a slotted spoon to a plate.
  4. Add onions to same pan and fry until softened, then add garlic. Stir and cook for a minute, then add apple, parsnips and sweet potatoes. Crumble over chicken stock cube and add thyme and bay leaves. Stir well, then return pork with all the juices from the plate. Add the chicken chasseur mixture, mustard and salt and pepper.
  5. Bring to the boil, stir and put lid on. Place in oven and cook for about 1 1/2 hours, or until pork is tender. Check halfway and stir.
  6. Raise oven heat to 190 C / Gas 5.
  7. Use the sliced potato to arrange on top of casserole, cook until potatoes are cooked through.

Tip

Before adding the potatoes, if gravy is too thin, sprinkle over some chicken gravy granules and stir through until you have the consistency you like. You can also add a drained tin of peas, if liked.

I would like to be able to print this recipe but I can't seem to find the print image.

I love pork chops. Pork of any kind actually. I like the fact that this recipe in made all in one pot. I prefer to cook that way as its easy and you can do other things whilst everything cooks. Like sit down and share a glass of wine! This recipe looks absolutely delightful and I can't wait to make it.

This One Pot Pork Chop Supper sounds absolutely delicious. I am going to try this evening. Not much to prepare it and it really sounds good. Looks it will only take about one and half hours to prepare and cook. Looking forward to a real good dinner. I love to try new pork dinners.

Does this take the thin pork chops? The store I usually buy my meat at sells all kinds of chops, but I don't know if any of them are small enough to be 4 in a pound. I like the idea of using canned tomatoes instead of tomato soup. I never buy tomato soup and I can my own tomatoes.

This was a great recipe for my girlfriend. She enjoyed the pork chops! Awesome recipe, I will share this on my blog!

All the recipes that i've seen and used for this include one medium onion, sliced into 8ths. Why were the onion eliminated from this recipe?

You can definitely add onions to this recipe if you wish.

I fixed this recipe today and it was awesome. The pork chops were tender and the vegetables were prepared just right. My husband told me to be sure to keep this rcipe

Sorry I forgot to mention on Low

I did mine in a slow cooker and turned out great. 3-4 hours

sounds like this would be good with sliced onions, too. but i am an onion lover. just a suggestion

I am on a salt-free diet and can't use any canned soups. Could I substitute home made tomatoes? thanks

Does this taste like tomato soup? I love tomato soup but my husband hates it. But we love a good pork recipe, I can't seem to get away from just BBQ pork, since that is what he likes. Is the tomato noticeable?

Hi ToniDvorak, There are a lot of other prominent ingredients in this recipe. I do not expect the tomato to be very noticeable once the dish is complete. Enjoy! --editors of RecipeLion

ToniDvorak, I make this recipe with canned diced tomatoes and sliced onions, if he likes other tomatoes. Another favorite one-pot meal of mine is to stuff thicker pork chops with chopped celery, apple, onion and herbs. Brown the chops, put the stuffing in the pockets. Put potatoes, carrots, and mushrooms on the top of the chops when you put them back in he pot. Pour mushroom gravy over. The flavors meld and it's really a very good way to make pork chops different.

This looks like a wonderful recipe.

I have made my porkchops almost like this. Unless you like to use tomato soup thats great. But really, these kind of pork chops are even better with campbells cream of mushroom soup. Unless you don't like mushrooms. OR now you have two ways to do this. This is the first time I have posted anything and I do hope no-one will get mad at me. good eating.

Hi karyd, Nope. It's just that this recipe was written not to be. If you make it in a slow cooker please let us know the time, temp, and how it turned out! Thanks! -Editors of RecipeLion

Is there any reason why this recipe could not or should not be done in a slow cooker?

@macsc: Thanks so much for your helpful feedback, and glad to hear you love this recipe! - RecipeLion Editors

I still have this recipe from a magazine from 1963. Love it. Also use the oregano, The gravy is great on your smashed potatoes

@ DCDNVSK 4340220 - Thanks for the insight and glad you enjoyed the recipe! -The editors of RecipeLion.com

I've been making this recipe at least 30 years. I still have the original that I cut from a can of Campbell's Tomato Soup and glued on an index card. I opt for oregano and this is a 'tried and true' recipe I go back to from time to time!!

This delicious rack of smoky Instant Pot barbecue ribs is low-carb and keto-friendly. You can do it the old-fashioned way, but once you start cooking the meat in your IP, you won’t go back. It’s recommended that you give them a quick broil in the oven or on the grill before serving to seal in that flavor, but you won’t have to wait hours and hours for a tender, juicy, fully cooked inside now. Score! Get the recipe on our blog here.

Easy Instant Pot Pork Tenderloin

Looking for how to cook a pork tenderloin in the Instant Pot? It&rsquos simple once you know the timing. Make it with just a few herbs and seasonings or with a gravy that&rsquos to die for. Try our easy Instant Pot pork tenderloin recipe yourself this week and let us know what you think! This and over 100 more Instant Pot recipes are on our site for you to try too. Enjoy friends.

  • I bet you make some sort of pressure cooker recipe daily right?? If you&rsquore anything like me you do! This multi cooker has been a complete game changer for our family I tell you.

Prepping and cooking a complete meal in less than 30 minutes is now possible, and I will say it is better than in the oven. Pressure cooking meat changed the way I did things for sure a few years ago. Especially when it comes to pork. I like tenderloin to be super moist with a bit of a sear on the outside. It was hard for me to gage whether it was done in the middle before and I tended to overcook it.

The first step to buy a piece of meat at the store. Typically they&rsquore packaged but occasionally you can get one from your local butcher counter. Choose one that isn&rsquot already marinated.

What is the difference between pork loin and pork tenderloin?

  • Pork loin is wide and thick while pork tenderloin is long and narrow. Both are cut from different areas of the loin muscle which runs along the back of the pig from the shoulder to the rear.

Is pork tenderloin healthy?

  • When you&rsquore looking for lean protein to include in your diet, this cut of meat is a good choice. It&rsquos low in fat, high in protein, and a rich source of vitamin B and selenium.
  • It&rsquos just as lean as skinless chicken breasts with more vitamins and minerals, and naturally gluten free.

Then to make pork tenderloin in Instant Pot pork we&rsquore going to set our pressure cooker to saute. Essentially this part could be skipped but you won&rsquot have a sear on the outside unless you do this. I think the texture is a bit off if you don&rsquot brown the outsides a bit.

Then DO NOT forget to deglaze your Instant Pot. If you don&rsquot you may get the dreaded burn notice because the little stuck on bits of meat are triggering that error.

Now, what do you need to make this easy Instant Pot pork tenderloin recipe:

  • Pork tenderloin &ndash 1-2 lbs. is good mix if you&rsquore going to make it with that
    • the gravy using this is amazing

Follow these steps to make your pork tender and juicy, you&rsquoll be surprised at how fast the cook time is.

Now the trick to achieving tender pork is to NOT overcook it!

Does pork loin get more tender the longer you cook it?

    • NO!
    • It actually does the opposite.
    • Although pork tenderloin is one of the most tender pork cuts, overcooking can make it tough and unpleasant.
      • This cut of meat is one you definitely do NOT want to cook over low heat all day long in a slow cooker or Dutch oven.

SO how long does it take to cook meat in an Instant Pot?

      • For pork loin it is just a few minutes with a 15 minute natural release cycle.
      • With beef it is a much longer time to break it down and have it fall off the bone tender, with usually a 10 minute release. is a bit in between.

Now it&rsquos time for some cookin&rsquo

        1. After your meat is browned on the outsides and you&rsquove deglazed your pot you&rsquoll want to put your meat back in.
        2. Whisk together your onion soup mix with remaining broth and add that too with a sprinkle of sliced onions on top.
        3. You can add more salt and pepper now if you like it well seasoned.
        4. Close lid and steam valve and set to 4 minutes for a piece of meat that is 1.5 lbs. If closer to 1 lb. I&rsquod set for closer to 2 min.
        5. Allow to naturally release steam for 15 minutes when done.
        6. Remove meat and allow to rest and stay warm.
        7. If making gravy turn pot to saute and in a small bowl whisk some hot liquid and a few tbsp of cornstarch until smooth.
        8. Pour this in and allow to bubble and thicken.
        9. Serve on top of white rice or mashed potatoes!

If you want a piece of lightly seasoned Instant Pot pork tenderloin keto without the soup mix you can do that too.

        • Just omit that packet and season with whatever you like:
          • salt and pepper
          • garlic powder
          • minced garlic
          • some like a bit of chili powder

It will look more like this if you prefer this method. A drizzle of soy sauce is yummy if you make it this way too. 😉

Now, will a pork tenderloin shred?

          • Tenderloin is lean so it isn&rsquot the best choice. If you&rsquore looking for an Instant Pot pulled pork recipe I&rsquod use this one.
          • Instead I would choose one of these cuts:
            • The best roast is the shoulder.
              • High in fat and connective tissue the shoulder is also the most flavorful part of the hog.
                • The Boston butt is one part when butchered
                • Picnic roast is what the other portion is called
                • We actually used a center cut pork loin for this one and it worked great.

Can you cook frozen meat in the Instant Pot?

It make take a bit more time to come to pressure as frozen meat needs to defrost a bit. I prefer to defrost prior to cooking but there are some forgetful moments around here and these tips are helpful:

                1. Put 2 cups of broth into pressure cooker.
                2. Place a trivet inside with your frozen meat on top. (keep in mind it may not fit if frozen in a straight long piece)
                3. Pressure cook on high for 60 minutes for a 2 lb piece followed by a 10 minute natural release. (timing will vary with size of meat and thickness)
                4. Remove meat and allow to rest. Can make Instant Pot gravy at this time if you wish.
                5. If it is defrosted, follow these air fryer pork loin instructions.

OH we have so many, but I will narrow it down to a few pressure cooker pork recipes we love.

                • The above photo is our sweet Asian inspired Instant Pot pulled pork recipe.
                • If you want simple pressure cooker pork chops with a mushroom gravy, try this!
                • We&rsquove made pork stroganoff too.
                • Use your leftover pork in an Instant Pot casserole!

If you need a baked pork tenderloin recipe for the oven, or air fryer pork chops dinner try these.
