    Steps

      Place all of the ingredients into a slow cooker and set the temperature to high.

      Cover and cook for 3 hours.

      When it’s done, it should have a thicker texture. Let it cool a little before serving.

    The Best Crockpot Cranberry Sauce Recipe

    Homemade crockpot cranberry sauce made with fresh cranberries! The combination of orange juice, fresh cranberries, cinnamon and sugars create delicious flavors &ndash and your house will smell amazing!

    Cranberry sauce was not a part of our Thanksgiving growing up. In fact, I don&rsquot think I&rsquove ever bought fresh cranberries. Sure, I&rsquove thought about stringing them by a fire at Christmas, but slow cooking them in a crockpot? Last year our church had our annual Thanksgiving meal together. I received the email with my instructions to make &ldquocranberry sauce&rdquo. Do you just buy the can of the stuff?

    I decided to do a little digging and decided to make a fantastic Cranberry Sauce Slow Cooker Recipe. It was so easy to make and it looks just beautiful. What I loved about this recipe is that I could make it with my kiddo. He helped me prepare it and then we turned on the crockpot. And the smell. Who needs Yankee when you can make homemade cranberry sauce?!

    Combine all ingredients except for the cranberries in your slow cooker.

    Rinse the cranberries with water. Let&rsquos just talk about how pretty cranberries are. I mean, really. They are fun to photograph because of the rich red color.

    Add the cranberries to the crockpot and give it a good stir. Turn on high.

    Stir the sauce with the cranberries after one hour on high in the slow cooker and every hour after that until you get to three hours. Your house will smell amazing!

    The sauce will be thick and delicious. If you like your cranberries cooked down even more, you can leave them in the crockpot for longer, just keep an eye on them!

    We were never a big cranberry sauce family growing up and to be honest, after seeing creepy images of the plum colored gel sliding out of a can and being sliced (. ), I never felt deprived.

    As I became more interested in health and nutrition, I’ve learned that cranberries are bursting in health benefits so I wanted to create an easy, fresher, less-sweet version of the holiday staple.

    The verdict: I am completely blown away at how easy and flavorful cranberry sauce is when made from scratch. Skill level required? Zero. Simply add a few ingredients into a crock pot and walk away.

    Make extra to stir into oatmeal, sweeten Greek yogurt, blend into smoothies and more.


    Slow Cooker Homemade Cranberry Sauce

    Some people out there acknowledge no other cranberry sauce than the canned, jellied stuff that comes out of the can in a single, slightly jiggly log. I, however, am more partial to whole berry homemade versions that are decidedly less jiggly. But while there’s room for all types of cranberry sauce on the Thanksgiving table, there’s not always so much room on the stove. That’s why I like to have a couple of slow cooker recipes up my sleeve when I’m making the Thanksgiving feast. There are some things that turn out every bit as delicious in the slow cooker – like this cranberry sauce! – and they save room on the stovetop for the things that really need it (like the gravy).

    This cranberry sauce takes only five ingredients (one of which is water) and basically zero minutes of your time. You literally just stir the ingredients together in the slow cooker insert, set it to low or high depending how much time you have, cover it, and walk away. And it turns out just as yummy as one you’d simmer on the stovetop!

    The sauce will thicken as it cools, but if you’d like it even thicker, all you need to do is let your slow cooker cook on high for a bit with the lid off. Just thirty minutes will give you a much thicker consistency.

    There’s orange juice and cinnamon and brown sugar mixed in and while this cooks, the berries burst and the flavors meld into a wonderfully balanced sauce that’s sweet but tart and lightly spiced. It goes so well right alongside your turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes, but it never overpowers them. It’s the ideal accompaniment.

    When I was growing up, we usually had the canned jellied cranberry sauce every year at our holiday dinner table. It wasn’t until I hosted my first Christmas dinner more than 10 years ago that I tried making homemade cranberry sauce and immediately fell head over heels.

    Now that I make it every year, I am always experimenting by switching up the flavors and spices depending on how I feel. It’s so easy to customize and I love leaving it chunkier so that you can still see the whole berries.

    I was trying to see if I could make my favorite cranberry sauce in a slow cooker since I have been seeing it pop up everywhere. I’m so glad I did because this Slow Cooker Homemade Cranberry Sauce is the easiest of all the side dishes I’ve ever made.

    This one only takes 4 ingredients to make – just toss the cranberries in with some orange juice, orange zest, honey and two cinnamon sticks and in a few hours, you’ve got homemade cranberry sauce waiting for you.

    If you like it less chunky or want more sweetener, just adjust to your liking. The wonderful aroma that fills your house seriously can’t be beat.


    Plus, it’s practically hands-free and you won’t have to tie up your stove or oven which is perfect when you have all the other side dishes and dessert to worry about.


    Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce

    Let the Thanksgiving planning begin! I love Thanksgiving food, but just because everyone celebrates this holiday with a gigantic feast doesn’t mean you can’t make some better-for-you choices. This slow cooker cranberry sauce, for example, uses lots of fresh fruit ingredients and is less than 100 calories (and only 3 Weight Watchers SmartPoints on myWW Green, Blue or Purple) per serving. As someone who has always stuck to the canned jelly variety in the past, I have to say, this tastes so much better (and I like the canned kind). This sauce is equal parts sweet and tart and has a really bold, fresh flavor. It tasted so good over turkey! I can’t even imagine if there were to be gravy added into the mix. In the past I’ve always eaten my cranberry jelly at room temperature, but I have to recommend you serve this sauce warm…it’s heavenly .

    As a bonus, this cranberry sauce is made in your slow cooker and requires very little prep time, leaving your coveted stovetop and oven space free for other dishes. Everyone at your holiday table will be blown away by this sauce – I bet you’ll never go canned again!

    It’s cranberry season here in Massachusetts, and homemade cranberry sauce is a popular dish on our holiday dinner table.

    This month’s Recipe Redux challenge invites members to create new slow cooker recipes. If you’re hosting a crowd for Thanksgiving, you’ll appreciate keeping the stove top free by making this slow cooker cranberry sauce.

    The flavors of cranberry and orange go so well together, and the apple helps to thicken the sauce because it naturally contains pectin. I use maple syrup to sweeten this sauce. Honey would work well, too.

    Some people in my extended family prefer canned cranberry sauce, but several of us love this chunky homemade version. The leftovers are the best part!

    A slightly different sauce that also features orange and ginger flavors is the Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce from The Lemon Bowl. For this recipe whole cranberries cook in the slow cooker with water, orange juice, sugar, orange zest, and grated ginger.

    For anyone who wants cranberry sauce without added sugar, this Sugar-Free Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce from The Perfect Pantry has whole cranberries cooked in no-sugar added apple juice or apple cider, and is sweetened with Splenda or another sweetener of your choice.

    At Heather’s Dish, Heather says she started making CrockPot Holiday Cranberry Sauce to help with scheduling on Thanksgiving, and that sounds like a good reason to me!

    Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce from Burnt Apple is sweetened with maple syrup.

    Easy Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce

    Raise your hand if you used to love the thick gelatinous Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce that came in a can!

    That stuff is loaded with nasty high fructose corn syrup. Plus the texture is far from appetizing. There will be no thanks for giving that to anyone. However there will be thanks for this super easy homemade cranberry sauce made with pure maple syrup.

    I hear you, maple syrup is still sugar. I know. But it isn’t processed like high fructose corn syrup which means there isn’t any preservatives or additives. It’s more of a whole food, if you will.

    Besides I’m not sure if you’ve ever had straight cranberries but they are tart enough to make a lemon look like a walk in the park. They need some sugar.

    So what’s great about making your own cranberry sauce is that you only need 3 simple ingredients: cranberries, orange juice and pure maple syrup. You just pour them in a slow cooker, stir and the rest is history.

    Another thing that’s great about making your own is that you can adjust to your liking. You can add more sugar if you like it really sweet or you can cook it longer if you like a thicker texture. I usually cook mine between 3 to 4 hours on high heat for a semi-thick cranberry sauce.

    You can also cook it up to 2 days in advance if you want to free up time on Thanksgiving day. It holds up great sealed in the refrigerator!
