19 Upscale Fourth of July Cocktails for Independence Day

Patriotic cocktails don't need to be technicolor sugarbombs.

Once upon a time, celebratory sips for the Fourth of July were relegated to standard beer and primary-colored frozen monstrosities, but nowadays our options are getting a lot more elegant. While we'd certainly never turn down a refreshing hard seltzer or the chance to rosé all day, having a fun and festive cocktail can really take your Independence Day celebrations up a notch. So this year, celebrate America's birthday with one of these upscale, summery twists.

Ingredients

8-10 blueberries
2 oz Long Island Vodka
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz simple syrup
1-2 oz Oregon Pinot Noir

Instructions

Muddle blueberries at the bottom of a double old fashioned glass and top with ice. Add vodka, lemon, and simple syrup to a mixing glass and shake vigorously until chilled and combined. Strain over ice and blueberries. Carefully pour wine over a spoon into the cocktail to create a red wine "float."

Ingredients

1 liter Casamigos Blanco Tequila
17 oz lime juice
17 strawberries (plus more for garnish)
17 whole blackberries (plus more for garnish)
10 oz simple syrup

Instructions

Blend strawberries and blackberries in blender until liquefied. Strain into punch bowl and add other ingredients. Stir in 3-4 scoops of block ice to fill in and cool. Garnish with blackberries and thin strawberry slices. Stir before each serving.

1.5 oz simple syrup
.5 oz cherry heering
1 oz lemon juice
2 dashes of orange blossom water
Sparkling wine to top

Instructions

Add all ingredients except sparkling wine to a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with mint.

2 oz lemon juice
1.25 oz simple syrup
2 whole strawberries, tops removed

Instructions

Blend all ingredients with 1.5 cups of ice until smooth and pour into a tall glass. Garnish with a strawberry and orange twist.

.5 oz pineapple rum
.75 oz lime juice
.75 oz simple syrup
Barspoon Pomegranate Molasses

Instructions

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.

1 oz cranberry juice
1 oz sparkling lemonade or lemon soda

Instructions

Build all ingredients in a glass filled with ice and stir to combine. Strain into a coupe glass.

Stir all liquid ingredients well in a punchbowl, making sure agave liquefies properly with the other ingredients. Add watermelon cubes and a block of ice five minutes before serving.

.5 oz Aperol
Top with tonic

Instructions

Pour mezcal, grapefruit juice, and sour mix into cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 6 to 7 seconds. Fill white wine glass with ice and slowly pour contents over ice. Top with Aperol and tonic and garnish with a fresh slice of grapefruit.

.75 oz lime juice
.25 oz pineapple juice

Instructions

Build all ingredients except soda in a shaker tine with ice and shake. Strain over fresh ice and garnish with 4-6 mint leaves.

.75 oz grapefruit juice
.5 bar spoon honey
.5 oz lemon juice

Instructions

Stir all ingredients in a rocks glass. Add ice. Garnish with rosemary sprigs and sprayed with orange flower water.
